Zhong Hua Cultural Arts Society Universiti Putra Malaysia (formerly known as Chinese Student Aspiration Team) was established in 2005. It was soon renamed because the single ethnic dominance did not reflect the Society's objectives to promote, as well as to develop Chinese culture and traditions. Besides, the Society also aims to provide a platform for students from different ethnic groups to understand, learn and practise Chinese culture. Zhong Hua Cultural Arts Society Universiti Putra Malaysia was founded by 10 Chinese students from the 2005/2006 Students' Representative Council following the successful organisation of the first Pesta Ang Pau Universiti Putra Malaysia on 17'" and 18th February, 2006. They realized that stage performances, that were mostly sourced from outside the student body, cannot effectively promote Chinese culture. To that end, the idea of forming the Zhong Hua Cultural Arts Society Universiti Putra Malaysia was mooted. The seniors were determined to source talents from the local student body to organise and perform a variety of cultural activities to expand Chinese culture. To date, Zhong Hua Cultural Arts Society Universiti Putra Malaysia has had ten cultural classes and three special events. The cultural classes were Chinese Orchestra, Wushu, Chess, Diabolo, Drama and Sketch, Xuan Dance Troupe, UPM Extreme Dancers, Yoga, Literature & Arts and Yinzi Acoustic Workshop. These were complemented with the three special events, i.e., Pesta Ang Pau UPM, Zhong Hua Orientation Month and Zhong Hua Leadership Training Camp. Zhong Hua Cultural Arts Society has adopted "Cultural Understanding, Racial Harmony, and National Unity" as its theme. Our mission is to introduce and promote Chinese culture so that all ethnic groups may learn and understand the spirit of Chinese culture. By promoting cultural exchanges, Zhong Hua Cultural Arts Society Universiti Putra Malaysia hopes to create harmonious bonding within various ethnic groups towards national unity.
" To let all UPM students know, understand, and learn the spirit of Chinese culture"
"To be an organization to unite UPM students of different races."
"To promote leadership, organizational as well as interpersonal skills"
