UPMISA INTRODUCTION

The Universiti Putra Malaysia International Students’ Association (UPMISA) is the official body representing all international students at UPM. Students from over 70 countries are enrolled at the university, contributing to a rich and unique cultural diversity. Despite these differences, our strength and pride lie in our unity. Therefore, students are encouraged to join their respective country-based associations, actively participate, and safeguard the welfare and interests of the community.

UPMISA serves as the representative of students in meetings with the university management and advocates for the interests of international students at UPM. The association is governed by the Executive Committee (Exco), which, together with country representatives, forms the general assembly responsible for making key decisions for the benefit of international students.

To enhance the experience of international students, UPM, through UPMISA, offers a wide range of social programs throughout the academic year. Participation in these programs provides opportunities for students to share experiences, build networks, and integrate into the campus community. Activities organized include visits to Malaysia’s heritage sites and popular tourist attractions, which are partially subsidized by the university to encourage broader participation.

During the initial weeks at UPM, international students may face various challenges in adapting to a new environment and country. Therefore, the process of joining UPMISA has been simplified to ensure that all students can become members easily and comfortably.
