Three representatives from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), along with 19 other volunteer teams from Public Universities, will depart for Southern Thailand for the Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission from 8–11 August 2024. This mission is organized by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in collaboration with the Malaysian University Volunteer Council (MASKUM) and the Perkasa Siswa Foundation (YPS).
The mission follows a service-learning approach, applying the expertise from various niche areas of Malaysia’s Public Universities to provide a positive impact on the lives of the local population as they rebuild after the disaster. The mission also integrates community service elements, including evacuation assistance and a Knowledge Sharing and Transfer Program (KSTP) to help improve the post-disaster recovery process.
