Kelantan, 22 August 2026 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues its commitment to strengthening student welfare and access to higher education through the Ziarah Kasih Pelajar Baharu KPT–UPM @ Kelantan 2026 programme, which reached out to prospective UPM students in Kota Bharu and Machang, Kelantan.
The programme focuses on engaging with prospective students and their families while ensuring that their welfare and preparations for the commencement of higher education receive due attention.
During the visits, the Ziarah Kasih delegation met with Nurul Syafiqa Binti Abdullah, a prospective UPM student in Kota Bharu, and Nur Amni Qistina Binti Ruhaimi in Machang, Kelantan.
As a gesture of care and support for their educational journey, RM2,000 in educational assistance was presented to each recipient through the Bantuan Awal Pengajian (Early Education Assistance) and the Yayasan Perkasa Siswa (YPS). The assistance aims to ease the financial burden on the families while supporting the students in preparing for their basic needs before beginning their university studies.
The Ziarah Kasih programme was also attended by YBhg. Dato’ Sri Jailani Johari, Chairman of the UPM Board of Directors, and YBhg. Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), UPM.
The programme reflects UPM’s continued commitment to ensuring that student welfare remains a key priority, particularly for new students who are embarking on their academic journey in higher education.
Initiatives such as this not only provide financial assistance but also serve as a source of encouragement for prospective students and their families, inspiring them to pursue their educational aspirations with confidence.
Guided by the spirit of “Supporting Students, Easing Their Burden, Paving the Way to Higher Education,” UPM remains committed to strengthening an inclusive and caring student welfare ecosystem while ensuring that no student is left behind in accessing opportunities for higher education.
