ZIARAH KASIH REACHES OUT TO FUTURE UPM STUDENTS

Pasir Mas, 17 September – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the Student Affairs Division, organized the Ziarah Kasih Programme in conjunction with the admission of new students for the 2025/2026 academic session by reaching out to two students from Pasir Mas, Kelantan.

Ziarah Kasih is an annual activity conducted by UPM to provide early educational support. The two students, Ms. Fatin Syamimi Ahmad Termizi and Ms. Putri Shafiqah Aniya Uswira, each received contributions as a gesture of the university’s concern for student welfare.

Ms. Fatin Syamimi, who chose UPM as her top choice in her UPU application, expressed her excitement when she was called for an interview for the Bachelor of Education (Agricultural Science) with Honours and the Bachelor of Education (Home Science) with Honours programmes. She travelled to UPM with her sister by bus, bringing along her own teaching materials for the interview session. According to her, the green and serene UPM campus environment was also a key factor in her decision to pursue her studies at the university. Her parents were overjoyed as she became the first in the family to further her studies at a higher learning institution. They will also be visiting Selangor for the very first time to send Fatin off to achieve her dreams.

Meanwhile, Ms. Putri Shafiqah, the eldest among her siblings, also shared her excitement about beginning her studies at UPM. Her deep passion for the Malay language motivated her to choose the Bachelor of Education (Malay Language) with Honours programme as her first choice. Despite facing financial constraints, her determination to register as a UPM student has never wavered. In this programme, she also received contributions from the Ministry of Higher Education through Yayasan Perkasa Siswa.

The Ziarah Kasih programme was also attended by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), together with Mr. Hirman Awang @ Semail, Director of the Student Affairs Division, Ministry of Higher Education. Also present were Mr. Zulkifli Che Hussin, representative of Yayasan Perkasa Siswa, as well as the Head of Student Affairs Division UPM and the UPM Student Well-being Section, to extend their support to the new students.
