UPM STUDENTS SHOWCASE DIGITAL INNOVATION CAPABILITIES AT PAYNET DIGITAL CAMPUS SUMMIT 4.0

Kuala Lumpur, 25th February – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) once again enhanced its institutional reputation by securing a total of RM60,000 in overall winnings during the final project presentation session of the PayNet Digital Campus Summit 4.0 (PDC 4.0), held at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel on 25 February.

Five (5) UPM students were selected as finalists in the Public University (UA) and Student Representative Council (MPP) categories in the prestigious competition, which brought together higher education institutions from across the country. Their participation reflects UPM’s commitment to advancing digital innovation and supporting the cashless payment transformation agenda within the campus community.

In the competition, the UPM team won the Best Presenter award, demonstrating the students’ ability to deliver ideas professionally, confidently, and with high impact. In addition, UPM secured third place in the Public Higher Education Institution (IPTA) category with a cash prize of RM30,000, as well as third place in the Student Representative Council (MPP) category, which also carried a cash prize of RM30,000.

Overall, this achievement saw UPM bringing home a total of RM60,000, the result of the students’ dedication and strong commitment. The project presented focused on innovative solutions to expand the adoption of digital payments on campus, in line with the nation’s aspiration toward a sustainable and inclusive digital economy.

According to a representative of the UPM team, the success was made possible through strong support from the university, supervising lecturers, and solid teamwork. They described their participation in PDC 4.0 as an excellent platform to showcase creative ideas while building professional networks with industry players.

The organisation of PDC 4.0 aims to encourage students from higher education institutions to develop digital solutions relevant to the campus ecosystem and the financial industry. The programme also serves as an important platform for producing technologically literate and highly competitive graduates.

UPM’s success in this competition not only brings pride to the university community but also demonstrates the capability of local undergraduates to lead digital innovation at the national level. This achievement is expected to serve as a catalyst for greater participation and success in the future.
