UPM STUDENTS ATTEND PUBLIC LECTURE BY TURKIYE PRESIDENT RECEP TAYYIP ERDOÄžAN

Putrajaya, February 10, 2025 – Approximately 400 students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) attended the Public Lecture delivered by the President of the Republic of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC). The students, from diverse academic backgrounds including both local and international students, ranging from Foundation to PhD programs, were given the opportunity to gain valuable insights and perspectives on global issues from a world leader.

During the lecture, President ErdoÄŸan emphasized Turkiye’s commitment to increasing bilateral trade relations with Malaysia, targeting USD 10 billion in the near future, compared to USD 5 billion recorded in 2024. He stated that Turkiye intends to expand cooperation with Malaysia in key sectors such as semiconductor technology, the automotive industry, aviation technology, and civil simulators, which will further strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.

Additionally, President ErdoÄŸan highlighted the importance of cooperation, justice, and inclusivity in addressing the growing global challenges. He stressed that these principles should be embraced by all parties to create a more just, peaceful, and prosperous future. According to him, global challenges such as climate change, economic inequality, and humanitarian crises require collective solutions involving all nations.

Furthermore, in recognition of his contributions to global diplomacy and geopolitics, President ErdoÄŸan was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in International Relations by the University of Malaya. This award was given as a tribute to his role in advancing international relations and promoting stronger global cooperation.

The Public Lecture also served as an important platform to further strengthen bilateral relations between Malaysia and Turkiye, while providing students with a deeper understanding of international issues related to economy, technology, and diplomacy.
