Negeri Sembilan, 25 July 2026 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Yayasan Perkasa Siswa, and the Student Affairs Division (BHEP), organised the KPT-UPM Ziarah Kasih Programme in Pertang, Negeri Sembilan, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting students and their families in need.

The programme aimed to strengthen the relationship between the university, students' families, and the local community through a welfare-oriented initiative founded on the values of compassion, care, and social responsibility. During the visit, the delegation met with the families of two UPM students: Nurul Hanis Hamizah binti Mohamad Saminin at Jalan Serindit, Pasoh 2, and Nur Syafiqah Adila in Felda Pasoh 3.

Throughout the visits, the delegation had the opportunity to engage with the families, listen to their experiences and challenges, and gain a deeper understanding of their circumstances. Essential household items were presented as a gesture of support and concern, reflecting UPM's commitment to ensuring that students receive assistance beyond the academic environment.

The programme was graced by the presence of YBhg. Dato’ Sri Jailani Johari, Chairman of the UPM Board of Directors, and YBhg. Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), UPM. Their participation underscored the university's unwavering commitment to safeguarding student welfare regardless of their background or socioeconomic status.

In addition to the presentation of contributions, the programme included friendly engagement sessions, discussions with family members, home visits, and community interaction activities that fostered stronger bonds between the UPM delegation and the local community. These meaningful interactions reinforced the importance of empathy, mutual support, and shared responsibility in creating a caring university ecosystem.

The KPT-UPM Ziarah Kasih Programme and the KPT-UPM Prihatin Initiative demonstrate that student welfare extends beyond academic achievement to encompass family well-being as a vital factor in students' overall success. It is hoped that this initiative will continue in the future as a platform to strengthen community solidarity, nurture a culture of compassion, and uphold the values of humanity and social responsibility.
