Serdang, 4 March 2026 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues to strengthen its role as a community-oriented institution by hosting the Selangor state-level Ramadan MADANI Programme organised by Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YAPEIM) today.

The programme was implemented as a welfare initiative aimed at supporting those in need, particularly students from higher education institutions (IPTs) as well as primary and secondary school students. It was held at the UPM campus in Serdang on 4 March 2026, with the objective of easing financial burdens while fostering a spirit of social responsibility within the community.

A total of RM56,800 was allocated to ensure the success of the programme, encompassing various forms of assistance including the distribution of RM100 festive aid to 300 identified students in need. In addition, the programme featured sponsored iftar meals, infrastructure contributions, and a talk session designed to enhance awareness and strengthen moral values among participants.

The officiating ceremony was conducted by Saiful Khairi bin Kamarudin, while Mohamad Aris bin Mohd Moklas was present as the university’s representative. Their presence reflected a shared commitment to strengthening strategic collaboration between educational institutions and external agencies.

Through programmes such as this, UPM not only serves as a centre of academic excellence but also acts as a catalyst for building a more inclusive and compassionate community. This initiative aligns with the university’s aspiration to produce graduates who are not only academically outstanding but also possess strong empathy and a high sense of social responsibility.
