SERDANG, 26 September 2025 – The Friday Charity program organized by the Putra Chancellery Surau Committee, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), continues to receive positive response from the campus community, further enhancing the culture of sharing, gratitude, and togetherness.
Introduced in January 2024 under the initiative of UPM Vice-Chancellor, YBhg. Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, the program has been consistently implemented with the involvement of eight Responsibility Centers (PTJ) operating in the Chancellery Building. Its execution is rotated weekly to ensure continuity and sustainability.
For the month of September, the program was carried out by the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni (TNC HEPA) together with the Student Affairs Division (BHEP). It provides free breakfast for staff and clients conducting business at the Putra Chancellery Building.
Every Friday morning, starting as early as 7.45 a.m., a variety of dishes are served in convenient takeaway packs. Among the offerings are nasi lemak, fried noodles, traditional Malay pastries, and sandwiches. These meals not only brighten the start of the day for the campus community but also serve as a casual meeting point that strengthens bonds among staff at all levels.
The organizers also welcome support from both the campus community and external parties interested in contributing, either in the form of monetary donations or food supplies. Contributions can be made through a special fund available at the main lobby of the Chancellery Building or by directly contacting the Putra Chancellery Surau Committee.
This initiative is hoped to be sustained as part of efforts to cultivate the spirit of giving, while strengthening solidarity and a sense of belonging within the university community.
