UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA SPORTS AWARDS CEREMONY

UPM, June 21, 2024 – On June 21, 2024, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) held its Sports Awards Ceremony, organized by the UPM Sports Academy, to recognize student-athletes who have demonstrated exceptional effort and outstanding achievements in sports. The event served as a crucial platform to honor the contributions and successes of students in the field of sports, which often requires dedication and continuous training.

In his speech, UPM Vice-Chancellor, Dato' Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohamad Sadullah, emphasized that success in sports is a vital component of holistic student development. He expressed immense pride in witnessing UPM students achieving not only academic excellence but also exceptional performance in sports at both national and international levels. His address highlighted the university's commitment to fostering a balance between academic achievements and excellence in sports.

The ceremony also underscored the importance of sports within the framework of UPM's True North, which identifies excellence in sports as a key element contributing to the university's global prominence. This excellence aligns with the goals outlined in UPM’s Strategic Framework 2050, aimed at enhancing the university's global recognition and presence.

During the ceremony, Saudara Ruslem Zikry Putra Roseli and Saudari Nani Sahirah Maryata were honored as the Best Male and Female Athletes of the year, respectively. Both won the awards for their outstanding performances in athletics, showcasing their dedication and intensive training in their respective sports disciplines.

This event not only celebrated the achievements of student-athletes but also reinforced UPM's role as an institution committed to developing well-rounded graduates. The ceremony highlighted the university's dedication to providing the best life and learning experiences for its students, including in the realm of sports and extracurricular activities.
