KUALA LUMPUR, 8 May 2026 – A delegation of students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) participated in the SEMICON Southeast Asia 2026 programme held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur on 7 May to enhance their exposure to the semiconductor industry and global technological advancements.
The prestigious international programme provided students with the opportunity to take part in academic visits, technology exhibition sessions, industry networking activities, and knowledge-sharing sessions with leading semiconductor industry players from both local and international sectors.
Throughout the programme, participants were exposed to various latest technological innovations, including developments in artificial intelligence (AI), industrial automation, electronic systems, and future technologies that continue to evolve rapidly in line with the demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
In addition to gaining new knowledge related to current industry developments, participation in the programme also helped enhance students’ soft skills such as professional communication, self-confidence, critical thinking, and the ability to work in an international environment.
The programme also created opportunities for students to gain a better understanding of career prospects in the semiconductor field while building professional networks with industry representatives and related institutions.
UPM’s participation in SEMICON Southeast Asia 2026 is expected to produce graduates who are more competitive, knowledgeable, and well-prepared to face the challenges of the global technology industry, in line with the university’s aspiration to strengthen academic excellence and graduate employability.
