Bintulu, 1 March 2026 – The Putra Eco Day program organized by the Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Sarawak UPM (PERKASA Sarawak) was successfully held at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Bintulu, as an initiative to strengthen environmental education and sustainable agriculture among students. The program follows the success of the organizing team reaching the finals of the Crocs Tank competition during Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak (LBAS) 2025, winning a total fund of RM14,000 to implement this community-impact project.

Putra Eco Day emphasizes the cultivation of green practices through a hydroponic planting project involving 200 plant pots and 20 additional mini kits. The activities provided students with the opportunity to learn modern agricultural techniques while being encouraged to think creatively about turning the environment into a source of benefit. The program also focused on interactive learning through group presentations, where students’ green ideas were tested, implemented, and have the potential to generate income from future harvests and sustainable projects.

The program aligns with the aspirations of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 13: Climate Action), emphasizing the importance of climate action and environmental sustainability. The implementation of Putra Eco Day reflects the continuous commitment of Sarawak’s youth in empowering sustainable development agendas, shaping a competitive, visionary, and environmentally-conscious generation. The program also serves as the first green education model in Bintulu, creating opportunities for students to apply their knowledge in community projects and the green economy.

With this success, PERKASA Sarawak has not only strengthened students’ awareness of environmental issues but also demonstrated that green education projects can positively impact the community while supporting sustainable development at both local and national levels.
