UPM, January 17, 2024 – The Dewan Kolej Pendeta Za'ba at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) witnessed a significant event today with the presentation of offer letters for the Pembangunan Siswa Sulung 2.0 Program. This program aims to provide educational funding to first-generation students from B40 families pursuing higher education at public universities.

A total of 332 students received their offer letters during the ceremony, which was presided over by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni). Prof. Dr. Arifin presented the letters to each recipient, expressing his hope that this financial aid would ease their financial burdens and enable them to advance their studies to higher levels.

The recipients also received detailed briefings on the benefits of the Pembangunan Siswa Sulung 2.0 Program from Encik Abdullah Arshad, Program Coordinator for Sulung UPM and Head of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Office (Student Affairs and Alumni). This briefing was intended to ensure that the students fully understood the assistance provided and the advantages they could gain from the program.

The event was attended by former recipients of the SULUNG 1.0 program, UPM’s college principals, HEPA unit heads, Sulung mentors, and representatives from UPM’s Academic Division. Their presence underscored the continued support and commitment of UPM towards inclusive education and student development.

This program not only reflects UPM's commitment to providing equitable and inclusive education but also represents a tangible effort to open development opportunities for underserved segments of society. It is hoped that the 489 new recipients of the Sulung program will leverage this support to achieve academic excellence and personal growth.
