ISLAMIC MANAGEMENT: INTERNALISING QURANIC PRINCIPLES AND VALUES

By: Marlinah Muslim

Selangor, 26 February 2026 – The application of Islamic values and principles in daily tasks, along with consistently remembering Allah SWT in every action, including professional responsibilities, should be practiced by every Muslim. This was elaborated in the book Prinsip Islami: Menghayati Prinsip dan Nilai Qurani and presented by Encik Nik Mohamad Ridhwan Nik Nasrudin.

The book further explains the leadership approaches of early Islamic figures who integrated Islamic values and principles into their daily duties. Among the principles emphasized are entrusting responsibilities to qualified individuals and carrying out assigned duties with full integrity and accountability.

According to Encik Nik Mohamad Ridhwan, the objective of the sharing session was to strengthen understanding of ethical management grounded in Islamic teachings. He stressed that the appreciation of Qur’anic values is not only significant in organizational administration but also plays a vital role in shaping effective, principled leadership capable of inspiring the workforce.

The program was held in conjunction with the month of Ramadan as part of the Read@Uni initiative, aimed at providing practical guidance to officers in managing their daily responsibilities in a professional and Islamically guided manner. The session also provided participants with the opportunity to share perspectives, raise questions, and discuss contemporary management challenges while upholding Qur’anic principles as guidance.

The program received support from Encik Wan Zaharuddin Wan Abdullah, Head of the Student Affairs Division, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), who was present to encourage staff to continue fostering a culture of reading among the university community.

Knowledge-sharing activities such as this are expected to serve as a catalyst for enhancing the quality of organizational management and generating a positive impact on the work environment and the university community as a whole. It is hoped that similar programs will continue to be organized in the future.
