Evaluation of Reading Corners and Presentation of Reading Competition Awards

UPM Serdang, July 11 – On July 11, 2024, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) held the evaluation for the Read@Uni Reading Corner Award, introduced in 2019 under the name Read@Uni Reading Corner Competition. This award is part of the Quality & Star Rating Awards for Administrative Management at UPM.

In response to the university’s call for excellence in service delivery, the Student Affairs Division and the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and Alumni (TNC HEPA) participated in the competition with the theme "Literature as the Manifestation of Human Knowledge." The evaluation of the reading corners was conducted by two judges from the Sultan Abdul Samad Library at UPM, who assessed the creativity and presentation of the entries.

In addition to the reading corner evaluations, the event was enhanced by a poetry performance by Mr. Faizul Ikhmal, who won second place in the Inter-Section Poetry Recitation Competition. The event also featured a Murottal Al-Alaq performance by Mr. Nik Mohammad Ridhwan, adding a cultural and literary dimension to the proceedings.

Awards for the Reading Competition, representing the Student Affairs Division and the TNC HEPA Office, were presented by the judges. These awards recognized the effort and creativity demonstrated by the participants in the competition.

The event is hoped to serve as a catalyst for promoting reading campaigns within the university and fostering a reading culture among students and staff. Such evaluations not only recognize achievements in the field of reading but also encourage further initiatives that promote literacy and a love for knowledge.
