UPM Student Wins Putra Icon Award (API) 2024

Serdang, January 10, 2024 – Ahmad Danish Iskandar Mohd Fadzil, a second-year Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physics student from the Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has been honored with the Putra Icon Award (API) UPM 2024.

This accolade earned Ahmad Danish a cash prize of RM1,000, presented by the Chairman of the University Board of Directors, Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr. Ibrahim Komoo.

In addition, Ahmad Danish received a trophy and a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his outstanding achievements throughout his academic journey at UPM.

The eldest of seven siblings, Ahmad Danish expressed that his success is attributed to the prayers of his parents.

“All the success I have achieved today is the result of my parents’ prayers and blessings. Without their support, I would not have been able to reach my dreams and goals. Thank you for all the sacrifices, love, and unwavering prayers. You are my source of strength and inspiration,” he said.

The API is UPM’s highest award, presented annually to recognize and encourage students who have demonstrated holistic and competent excellence in line with the Higher Education Development Plan (2015 - 2025) and the UPM Strategic Plan (2021 - 2025).

Meanwhile, UPM Vice-Chancellor, Datuk Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, remarked that excellence and personal integrity are qualities that should be emulated by all students.

“When a student excels, it becomes an inspiration for others to strive for excellence as well. Therefore, it is essential for us to seek and be inspired by such role models,” he added.
