Concern for the welfare and well-being of the community continues to be one of the core values nurtured within the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) ecosystem. In line with this commitment, the Ziarah Kasih KPT-UPM Prihatin @ Negeri Sembilan 2026 Programme served as a meaningful platform to reach out to families in need while strengthening the bond between the university and the local community.
Held on 25 July 2026 in Pertang, Negeri Sembilan, the programme involved visits to two households to deliver contributions and extend support to the families. More than simply providing assistance, the visits created an opportunity to connect, engage in meaningful conversations and listen to the experiences and needs of the families.
The presence of UPM staff and volunteers reflected the belief that everyone has a role to play in building a caring, supportive and compassionate society. Through genuine interaction and personal engagement, the programme brought the spirit of concern and solidarity closer to the community.
Also present were YBhg. Dato Sri Jailani Johari, Chairman of the UPM Board of Directors, and YBhg. Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), UPM.
The programme featured several activities, including the presentation of contributions, family engagement and discussions, community interaction and visits to families in need. Support was also extended to students’ families as part of efforts to strengthen the welfare network and ensure that no one is left behind.
Initiatives such as this demonstrate that the value of education extends beyond the classroom. Knowledge is brought to life through action, compassion and service to the community. Through continued collaboration between the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) and UPM, such efforts will continue to nurture a culture of care while building hope towards a more inclusive and prosperous society.
Sincere Knowledge, Continuous Service, Care Throughout Life.
