ACTIVE STUDENTS CREATE A VIBRANT CAMPUS

By: Farhah Fakhrudin

Life as a university student is not merely about attending lectures or completing academic assignments, but also about exploring one’s potential, building character, and strengthening soft skills through active participation in various university programmes. At Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), students are encouraged to become active, competitive, and progressive individuals by getting involved in programmes organised by the university, the Student Affairs Division (BHEP), residential colleges, faculties, clubs, and student associations.

Every programme conducted—whether in the form of leadership, volunteerism, entrepreneurship, culture, or sports—serves as a valuable learning opportunity that complements classroom knowledge. Activities such as community service, personal development workshops, leadership forums, and innovation projects allow students to build self-confidence, think critically, and learn teamwork. Active students are often more prepared to face real-world challenges as they have undergone a holistic learning process that nurtures intellectual, emotional, and social growth.

Active involvement not only broadens experience but also instils values of responsibility, discipline, and teamwork. Moreover, it helps students expand their social networks, discover their true potential, and develop a strong sense of identity. BHEP UPM continues to play a vital role in providing space and support for every student to nurture their talents and explore new opportunities.

Therefore, let’s rise, UPM students! Be a generation that excels not only academically but also in leadership, service, and character. Take part in the many programmes offered, seize every opportunity to grow, and together, shape a brighter future for the university.

Because when students are active, the campus becomes dynamic!
