UPM Serdang Campus, 12^th December 2020- Pertaining to the online methods, the Students’ Affairs Division (BHEP) of Universiti Putra Malaysia, has successfully conducted the Students’ Union Parliament for 2020 session from 9^th till 12^th December 2020. It is a platform for UPM students’ leaders, both Serdang and Bintulu campus, to fight for their fellow friends’ needs. The parliament adapts the Malaysian House OF Representatives system in general.

This Students’ Union Parliament were attended a total of 79 students’ leaders, 45 Executive members from the Students’ Representative Council and 34 Legislative members that represented various clubs/ association, residential colleges and faculties in UPM. The Speaker was appointed among the officers from BHEP’s Students’ Activities Management Section.  The session which commenced for 4 days, outlined 15 motions presented by the Executive members which later were debated among the members of the floor. 8 motions were passed with majority votes, 6 were accepted with amendments and 1 was rejected with majority votes.

This effort proves the University management’s effort in catering its student’s welfare and needs from the micro- level, the students themselves. Besides, this platform instills openness and critical thinking skills among the students’ leaders that represent their fellow friends towards a conducive learning environment.
