Universiti Putra Malaysia implemented the Student Union Parliament

Serdang, March 12, 2019 - The Student Union Parliament is an initiative of the Student Affairs Division of Universiti Putra Malaysia to provide a better foundation of leadership training with a more structured structure, involving more student leaders, implementing clearer segregation of powers, smoothening workflows and create a check and balance space in line with the aspirations to improve the quality and competitiveness of graduates as well as initiate the implementation of Student Unions with the intention of YB Minister of Education Malaysia.

This initiative aims to achieve the objective of providing political leadership training to student leaders, to create student leaders who are exposed to a debate enviroment that celebrates the difference and cultures of critical thinking among students.


YBhg. Prof. Datin Paduka Dato 'Dr. Aini Ideris With Student Leaders


The opening of the Student Union Parliamentary Assembly was officiated by YBhg. Prof. Datin Paduka Dato 'Dr. Aini Ideris, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia. The first conference involved 79 representatives representing 45 members of the Student Representative Council who will act as Executive group and 18 members of the Board of President of the House of Representatives Council of Representatives and 16 members of the Cabinet of the President of Student Faculty of Students as a Legislative group.


Student Union Parliament


This Student Union Parliament will be an important starting point for the university's commitment to providing students with the freedom to speak, politics and association in championing student affairs, welfare and academics.
