July 3rd, 2020, Genting Highlands – A total number of 39 members of Universiti Putra Malaysia Students’ Representative Council (MPP) participated in the Students’ Representative Council 2020/ 2021 Session Induction Course conducted by the Students’ Affair Division on the 3rd till 5th July 2020 at Seri Malaysia Hotel. Online platform, Google Meet, was set up for 4 students who could not physically attend the course due to unavoidable circumstances.
Speakers with vast amount of knowledge in handling the movement of MPP in UPM were invited to share their knowledge as a part of the contents delivered in the leadership- emphasized programme. Basic effective communication, a leader’s appearance, roles and contributions of UPM’s crucial entities as well as the involvement of alumni in the development of students’ networking are some of the core values highlighted throughout the course.
Informative activities were enforced with group activities to provide a clearer picture on the possible actual scenario to the line of MPP that took their oath on March 11th 2020. Presentations on MPP’s ideas throughout the term, proposal for programmes with UPM Alumni Center and Q & A sessions with the speakers were the sessions that filled the students with updated information within the UPM environment.
Ybhg. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Roslan Sulaiman, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Students Affair and Alumni stated his will to the newly elected MPP to always strive in fighting students’ welfare and needs. He reminded the role of MPP as the main connecting bridge that upholds students’ voice to the attention of the university’s management for further implementation and consideration.
