Mental Illness Is Not a Joke: Programs with PERMADA UPM

SERDANG, 15 Jan- Pahang Perkasa Welfare Association UPM (PERMADA) had organised a programme entitled "Mental Illness Is Not a Joke". Invitation panel attended by Associate Professor Dr. Irniza binti Rasdi, Head of Health Safety and Environment Unit from the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health UPM. The programme succeeded by Nur Khumaira binti Roshizad as moderator, was carried out from 9.00 – 11.00 pm on Friday, 15th January 2021 through Facebook Live PERMADA UPM.

The discussion focusing mainly on mental illness and way to overcome it. This slot was divided into three parts; exposure on what is mental illness in terms of symptom and effect, issues and opinions, and question and answer session with audience.

Prof. Madya Dr. Irniza Rasdi shares on how to overcome mental health problem such as taking care of bedtime, the amount of nutrition taken, exercise regularly, recite Al-Quran, reading books and interacting with the community socially. She also said mental illness is associated with a person's offspring or genetics.

Ainnor Basir Mohd Rosdi, student of Bachelor of Education (Guidance and Counselling) UPM states that "Mental illness can be suffered by anyone if they not overcome it. These mental health problems also affect behavioral and emotional changes such as bipolar, anxiety and stress. Mental illness symptom also could be divided to three parts namely behavioral, thoughtful and emotional conditions."

 

The programme continued for two hours and successfully achieved over 300 majority views among students of Universiti Putra Malaysia.
