[26/06/2020] We Care For Each Other: Care For UPM Off-Campus Students

June 26 2020, Serdang – Following the Movement Control Order (MCO) announced by the honourable Prime Minister from 18th March 2020, a total number of 878 off-campus, including international students, have received aids in the form food and basic provisions. The provisions were provided to the students at their respective residential, by the frontliners from the COVID-19 HEPA (Students Affairs and Alumni) Control Room, led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students Affairs and Alumni), , Y. Bhg. Profesor Dr. Mohd. Roslan bin Sulaiman, himself. The distribution was supported by officers from the HEPA entities and strongly backed up by the Students Representative Council (MPP UPM).

 

A continuous series of provisional distribution were sustained to ensure the welfare of off-campus students’ welfare are taken care of, due to the worsening condition of MCO caused by the widespread of COVID-19. The contributions were received from both government and private agencies, individual and non- governmental organisations (NGO) who shared the moral responsibility to take care of the students’ well-being.

Based on the distribution data, there are 712 international and 166 local students receiving the allocated provisions, living near Serdang, Bangi, Kajang and Seri Kembangan area. The initiative has received numerous positive responses among the students and they have expressed their gratitude towards UPM management considering their welfare.
